Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Has this been posted before?

Employers like Exxon are ideally looking for an employee with the wisdom of a 50 year old, the experience of a 40 year old, the drive of a 30 year old, and the pay scale of a 20 year old.

Isn't it sad that this might have started like a joke but has turned into the truth by now?

When EM pays people 300k+ to work 6 months/year, it makes sense for it to lag behind competitors. It’s so bad that asking the US to take pay cuts won’t suffice. They need to move these jobs to Asia to be somewhat competitive again.

Just like exxonmobil, always last to the party. Other companies have been outsourcing work for decades now. Why are we just now seeing this as a viable strategy? Is the sinking Exxonmobil itself trying to jump off the sinking ship that is America?

And now you know why low cost countries are so attractive....and that even without experience, wisdom and drive. They are just cheaper. And the rising share price reinforces the belief that these decisions have been right. But it is just the price of oil!

What, will they ever hire a 50 year old just out of college? Am I missing something? LOL What I notice at XOM is that newbies really age so fast. Some people who get to their 30's started to bald, grey hair, and all. That's what XOM can do to people.

I think EM would be happy if all employees in their 20's just acted their age instead of like spoiled children. The rest comes with time.
