Years ago i worked with a man who took a package from Kerr Mcgee. He got 5 years full pay and only had 18 years with them. He was an hourly wage earner.
ExxonMobil's voluntary package was 4 months of pay, no matter how long you've been there. They also had an involuntary package, but I'm not sure of details. It was at least 2 weeks' pay for every year, max 1 year of pay, 2021 vacation days,
Shell should have upped the offer a little. Would have gotten many more takers this round. Something like 4wks/year with 2 years max. I would have jumped on it. Why would someone turn it down 6 months ago just to say yes now. From what I hear very very few takers this time. This round Shell will be forcing out employees who would rather stay.

BP paid 1 month for every year of service and 1.5 months per year if you had joined before 2009.
Is it possible to apply for svs and leave by end of Feb?
Chevron gave the same 3 weeks/service year, but they also cover health insurance for a full year and not 4 months only like Shell.
Take the three year per year severance and run. There may not be another SVS after this year.
Take the 3 weeks and run Consider your self lucky to get out of a company failed by incompetent management with bonus pay.
Some parts of Shell may pay 4 weeks per year to a max of 2 years but keep in mind salaries in the US are higher so it balances out.
Oxy gave Anadarco folks 1 year regardless of years of service. I believe Pioneer did 1.5 years regardless of years of service. I think 3 weeks per year is pretty standard of E&P. It comes down to how much cost of settlement would cost if a lot of laid off folks where to sue. I'm sure if you have leverage you could hire an attorney and try to get more(individually or as a group). A lot of service companies got sued for OT a few years back.
