I'm a person of color and I have been laidoff from Lenovo twice. I find that the managers from the former IBM PC side really like getting brown nosed, so if there's a survival tip to share, that would be it. Doesn't matter how much work you do, doesn't matter how much you contribute, doesn't matter if you make quota. When it's time for management to decide who stays and who goes, the favorite subordinate wins each time, even if they do far less work. So brown nose the boss!
