Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Demoted but pay stayed the same...

This company does not spend money rationally at all. Some people are simply privileged.

The real question needing to be asked if you demoted someone to a lesser job why continue to pay them the same salary they had from the position they were demoted from.

This is a great question asked by @4uwq+18txifxs. I myself often wonder if this makes any sense and if they understand the consequences of their actions? They are wasting money while at the same time those who work the most are the least appreciated.

All companies waste money. You should apply for waste management.

Yeah a 3rd party wouldn’t put up with this job being paid less and treated worse. Many of us union guys make good wages and are looking elsewhere for other employment opportunities. People not in the crafts have no idea how bad it is especially the attendance policy, pay theft from te&y and harassment and intimidation on a daily basis. Before this PSR company couldn’t get people to show up for interviews with the promise of a $20,000 bonus if hired. Not too many folks looking to work for the worst company to work for in at least the last two years.

Complaining again about stuff that you know nothing about. Delusions abound but you always know better from your lazeeboi chair.

Childish meaning the ones that are always posting negative things about management.
Step up if you don’t like it!

@1jjj That's a great idea. Can you tell me though about who would be left? That's right, the management who started all of this. Do you really believe the RR would be any better with a 3rd party? If a 3rd party wasn't hired, then do you think management would be able to do the work to keep the RR going? Here's my take on your comment. You're obviously offended by union workers, but that gives you no right to call them childish. You should probably look up how many union workers populate the RR's. Only then would you have the proper knowledge to make rational statements. I was a union RR worker for 26 years, and I was shafted by this company as well. Guess what, I moved on. I see no point in attacking union workers for just being union. The dumpster fire we call the UP, wasn't caused by the union worker. This was all caused by the NON-UNION worker.

One reason they move management from state to state; the cost of living changes.

They should get rid of childish union workers and hire a 3rd party.

I would say they do that because there's no one to fill the vacancy, or would want to fill the vacancy if they left after being demoted. The other scenario would be that the wall street A-holes don't believe certain positions are needed anymore. I've never seen a company p1ss away money like the UP does. Many of the management positions are completely pointless. All of the management positions are paid WAY too much for the actual work being performed. They cut manpower, and derailments went skyrocketing. Think about the millions of dollars spent cleaning all those up, on top of the fines and bridges they had to pay for. Every derailment scene is the same. A few dozen managers standing there doing NOTHING, relaying information to other managers who are just too stupid to begin with. The UP needs to put managers on the standards as the lower people. Start paying them for the work they actually do, instead of paying them to just be there pretending to be important. Think about the work that would be done, and the money that would be saved then

It’s just as true as the company giving managers 10k every time the change locations (heard directly from a managers mouth when they found out they were being shipped to their new location, confirmed from another manager when they were told they were moving to another location and the first manager was moving as well they confirmed that the other manager would be receiving another 10k to move again). What @4uwq seems to be saying in their post was not talking about people taking other positions after their jobs were eliminated. If you get removed from a position and demoted your pay should get decreased no matter how long you’ve been there.

That is not true.

If you're a manager for a certain amount of time you have 3 years of the same pay as long as you didn’t step down or if they cut the position.

How do you know their salary stayed the same? I personally know two I individuals whose jobs were eliminated and took other positions. These two employees both had their salary reduced by over 10K. I was offered a lower position also at a pay cut if over 20K, but chose to leave instead. I am sure there are situations where superintendents and above are moved to other jobs and keep their salary, but for the majority of lower to middle managers this is not the case.

Most likely that person is someone’s buddy, relative, or in their deer camp.
