That guy is lucky that rioters liquidated this Kmart location, or else the K might not have ever been saved. Others have tried to get the K from other closing Kmarts, but they were always told by the liquidators that they couldn't have signage like that because Kmart is still an active trademark.
That's why I said the "true" Kmart, meaning the 60s and 70s and even into the 80s. Sears / Kmart, whatever, plenty of posts here about Kmart too.
No one has nostalgia for dirty, poorly run stores. And this is the SEARS board.
This a great story and shows how much the nostalgia of what once was the "true" Kmart means to some people. Sadly, shoppers who remember Kmart fondly care more about its legacy than Ed Lampert.
