Thread regarding TechnipFMC plc layoffs

No job security anymore

I worked for FMC for nearly 30 years, I took a voluntary layoff in 2019. FMC was a great place to work before the merger. Sad to say but newer employees probably will never see 30 years on the job, like many of those who started in the 80s and 90s.

Exactly! We used to have job security here. I didn't have to worry about being laid off pretty much all the time. There might not be layoffs each month but the threat of layoffs is omnipresent. I miss the old days...

No the good old days where when men were men and sheep backed up to the fence. This company was done when John G. left. Sense then it's just been dying a slow painfully r—ded death.

Ah yes, the old days when the command came from above to just reduce expenses and check back 6 months later to see if it worked or didn’t. Now it’s “hey, our employees are the largest expense, let’s just cut that first, hey mr/mrs/ms manager give us 3 names” while also every upper mgmt shall be intimately involved with all incoming quotes and must pow wow with all department heads on it before deciding whether or not to take it, already stuffing the sector to a loss with all the overhead trying to figure out if they want business or not and hoping client didn’t lose interest because it took a month to respond.
