While some of the C Suite decisions appear to have been a bit random, I suspect that it's largely due to bad advice from incompetents who largely believe that the corporation can save money by off-shoring projects to India. The decision making that went into this ignores the history of the last ten+ years, where corporation after corporation have initially RAVED about all the benefits of using Indians for development. Ultimately, though, they read "MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN" on the wall. To
be clear, this is NOT some kind of racist rant about indians. It's a reality-based commentary of how those groups work. Or don't.
While use of foreign labour has some benefits, there are also a lot of problems: Language and understanding, quality of work, completion of difficult tasks in a timely manner, etc. Having worked with various groups at different companies over decades, there's a common pattern that off-shore leadership would prefer to not discuss: time and again, it has felt like the corporations I'm consulting to are being used as college-level training programs. This is a pattern that is highly objectionable, yet never seems to be properly addressed.
All this said, it's still important to recognize some of the benefits we've gained from Allscripts. Working for a Chicago company has a lot of benefits you can't get to from companies located elsewhere.
Wishing all of you the VERY VERY best during this holiday season. We ALL actually deserve it.
