Thread regarding Resideo Technologies layoffs

Wyze is going to eat our lunch - 10k professional monitoring subscribers already!

How come Wyze can do this so cheap, but the brain dead Melville crew can't?

Wyze Home Monitoring has been live for just over a week now and already more than 10,000 of you have decided to add 24/7 professional monitoring to your Wyze smart home.

How is this only $4.99 per month?
Great question! … And probably the one we get most often. The truth is, it's a combination of two things. First, Wyze is famous for making great technology accessible to everyone. It's what we do. It's our mission. We set out from the beginning to create something that was both affordable AND reliable.

Second, it is made possible by our security technology partner, Noonlight. They share a similar mission and have developed more effective ways to connect technology to 24/7 professional monitoring centers. This combination allows us to bring this service to you at a fraction of what others charge.

But is it really reliable?
We have done a lot to make this a system you can trust to protect what matters. First, we partnered with a professional monitoring company that is the best in the business. The monitoring centers are UL-listed and redundant TMA 5-Diamond Certified. That’s a fancy way of saying they are 24/7/365 connected and have professionally trained people that route vital information to 911 dispatchers.

Today I had the pleasure of getting robbed. My C1 camera set for motion did not record ANYTHING. Actually even the app randomly quits for weeks. What a mess, whoever designed this should be fired. Whoever is in charge of software should be fired.

There will continue to be new competitors in this space all the time and we have always had a target on our back, although it's a little smaller than it used to be. Wyze is going to capture some share of the market, but they are clearly going after SimpliSafe. We need to innovate, understand our partners needs and deliver quality solutions to those needs to ensure that we remain closely tied to them and be a true partner in their success.

Alarm was the first nail, then google, now Wyze
Time for more promos and salary increases instead of layoff? Clearly management is going in the right direction.

Will we have promo and bonuses due to wyze?
Usually that’s the case and as there are no layoffs any ideas what the extra bonus will be?

Thanks for the info. I was thinking about having a security system installed. Calling to cancel the Honeywell based system installer.

This WYze system seems much better in cost and options that I am going to install it myself.

Plus, not a fan of Honeywell products, poorly made, poor service and overpriced. I think they tend to outsource the products and lease the name.

Here’s the deal. Why should it cost $50 a month for a person manning a phone line especially when 10k people are paying $50 a month for that same person? It’s simple. Greed. And a bad business model. And selling 30 year old technology for current cutting edge technology prices. And selling sensors for $75 that cost $3 to manufacture. And rebranding low quality equipment and selling for premium prices. While that would have worked 30 years ago, there are too many superior competitors and smarter customers today.
