Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

401k

Checked my year end 401k total and it looks like staples quit matching contributions this year.

No notice and the recruitment website still says they match contributions.

Guess I did help pay for those employee appreciation lunches this year. Thanks for contributing everyone.

I see many posts on these threads advising people to "ask their manager" or "go to HR" DON'T DO IT! you will be identifying yourself as a dissident if lucky you will only spend time in the gulag more likely you will be terminated in the next round of "right sizing"

they put the match in at the end of the year. if you leave before Dec 31, you lose the match for that year, doesn't matter if you are fired, or if you leave on your own. It used to be better, but they made that change as a cost savings event, this was before Staples became the private company that it is now. I am not sure how the 401(k) is now, but before it was mediocre to say the least.

I saw this when I did a search and asked my boss about it, he got worried and found out that Staples is planning to still pay the 401k match. Not sure who posted this. They are wrong.

Why doesn't everyone ask HR if their 401k match is safe? It would be normal, if what I hear about this company is true, to worry about your benefits and to question your company about it.
But, just keep your head down and march on brave bees. Everything will be okay for somebody.

Ask HR rather than making assumptions in a public forum. Dolt.

Staples does not put the match in until early Feb usually. It’s been this way for years.
