So it's disappearing VP slots that will dump lots of JgB and JgA into the next batch, where a few lucky ones could snatch that powerful high grade GM somewhere.

Its everywhere not just at Shell. No matter what how much time and effort goes into the corporate HR smoke and mirrors exercise to convince the little people that everything is fair and unbiased - it isn't. If you have not figured that out yet you will.
Not a surprise. They will continue to milk their compensation package until someone/something forces them out.
Are any other shell workers getting the run around from line managers about the final numbers for their department? One site SLT member said that all managers have been given the numbers and talks would be happening this month. But when approached the topic is side stepped and individuals chastised for bringing it up.
Lol higher ups never get affected by these reorgs, only us lowly workers at the bottom.
I get that Shell trusts it’s leaders and that they’ve been promoted for doing a good job, I just wish that they’d stop pretending that every level of the company is going to be equally effected by Reshape.
