Most of my friends work in retail. Almost all of them have been laid off due to the decrease in revenue. I don’t know if we have it better than most, but it certainly seems so. I think it was a bit sketchy during the middle of the year but we seem to have weathered the storm. Hopefully it stays like this…

More layoffs last week (Jan 2021) The layoffs last year at this time and then again in March 2020 generated very little press, which is once again the case with this round.
Positions from Regional Manager to Store Manager were eliminated. The latest strategy is to have 1 Store Manager running 2 locations to save $$. They continue to push their people to high levels of stress by running with tight payroll and lots of pressure to sell credit cards. Carters product is sold everywhere and looks the same year to year so they are competing with their own product that is being sold at other retailers. Lots of politics within the organization and leadership hasn't been the same since George Kingsmill left.
