Over the last 6 years I’ve been working on my degree in social work. I can say that’s the only goal I had in mind while employed here. I took everything this company dished out, the good, the bad and the ugly. I would have quit long ago if it weren’t for the fact that I had a goal and remaining employed was part of it. I’m happy to say that I have my degree and have been secretly applying for positions. I can’t wait to finally be rid of this place.

They show profits by firing people... What don't you understand?
" I am curious about why is driving the stock price up? I thought this company was shutting down plants and dealing with low oil prices? "
Because company health and company stock prices are not the same thing. The stock market likes things like shutting down plants rather than reducing stock holder payouts to hold onto facilities and talent.
Same thing with the general economy. A strong stock market does not mean the economy had been doing great.
Did you get a free car too!
I don't get it either man this place is a cakewalk, sounds like some of you are just not smart enough to take full advantage of it. I love my job! Not really that hard to stay under the radar over here, ya know what I mean! Go have some fun and spend some money, who cares it's on EMR and the shareholders, thanks everyone!
You don't like this site?
Then get the F off of it, white trash, EMR garbage, POS!
Go back and weld something, EMR is probably the only company dumb enough to hire you and you're dumb enough to accept the job!
So much bs on this string from losers. This site has become little to no value to employees or former employees.
I don't really care about whether it's a good place to work or not (seems like not), but I am curious about why is driving the stock price up? I thought this company was shutting down plants and dealing with low oil prices? Stocks like this are making me concerned we might be sitting on a bubble. Emerson is a $60 stock that pays a dividend.
Right! They only have been around for since 1890, and the stock is at an all time high. They will probably fold any day now.
Yeah, if we continue to hand out perks like this there will be no company in a few years
I don’t get why you all are so pi$$ed off. Emerson gave me a car and country club membership plus bonuses. Seems pretty good to me. Happy Holidays!

Guys seriously, stop wasting your time on here or pretending to do any work, everyone knows the truth, this company is horse sheet and has been for a very long time, just collect your pay and shut up like everyone else around here.
Once in a while, pretend you care and you'll have a long career here. Trust me, I know, we'll leave it at that.
More importantly, Best Buy is having a huge holiday sale, go check it out!
Hi Haters!
Want to know a secret, as you read this, I'm working toward my MBA on their dime, nothing wrong with that and if you think so you know you can kiss my A!!!
As soon as I'm done, Bye s—ers!
LOL
From what I've seen, literally ANY company is better than here... I repeat ANY!
But this is really the easiest job I've ever had, I literally don't have to do a thing, honestly I'm online shopping or reading about sports, there is no accountability so why even bother?
I for one will hang out and enjoy doing nothing because that's the way this company is setup. They actually encourage it!
Bottom line, if you work hard or do nothing, sad truth is the result at this place is the same.
Back to amazon for the rest of the day, some cool things are on sale, thanks EMR for paying me to shop, I love this place!
Look at me after 7 years I'm still here and It's the middle of the work day and I'm on here commenting!
What a great company, full of smart awesome leaders, they are so great the pay me to talk dirt on them and have been doing so for years!
Best job ever!
Thanks but I'll keep milking this just like the tens of thousands of others, that's the EMR way!
For all the drones getting triggered because you don't like hearing the truth, it's really no problem, all you gotta do is just shut your eyes and ears like you've been doing since the start, put your mask on and go back to your dirty cubicle and wait until you're allowed to go home for the day like a good little boy or girl.
Oh and be a nice little pet and get your boss some coffee while you wait for your dead end job to end. That pretty much sums it for you dummies and general wastes of space.
If you have spent any time in any location of this organization, you know this is the truth and you're living it! Sorry not sorry it's your own doing, it's your problem.
You can clearly see that some of the responses on here are proof of the real quality of the employees at this organization and how they think - sad really - really just garbage desperate people who don't have any self respect. One day you will wake up but until then enjoy your low pay and dead end job! and dump of an organization.
If you had any self worth you would go elsewhere, and stop making excuses for the constant failings of your so called leadership, how does your leaderships azz taste toda? yummy I bet for you, you're really a sad lot.
Given Emerson is a global company how do you know comments are being made during business hours? Another genius we don’t want at Emerson!
Irony just died. An Emerson employee on a layoff site during the middle of the work day claiming Emerson expects people to work.
I agree that Emerson does use its people. Imagine that a company expecting people to work hard for the compensation they are paid!
For all the critics of Emerson please point me to a company that you think is great and you would love to work for? Then tell me why you aren't working for them? If you couldn't cut it Emerson my guess is that company you love doesn't want you either.
If the criticizers are so adept at what leadership should be, why aren't they leading their own fortune 500 company. Perhaps you are better suited to teach as you obviously can't do.
100% agree with the last comment, in fact I'm doing the exact same thing but pursuing a different degree.
This place uses people up! If you're not doing the same then you're the pathetic one, open your eyes to what is going on!
Place is a dead end from the start.
Go ahead and continue being a fool of a doormat.
BTW The guy who mentioned leadership knowing anything is smoking crack! You're a class A dummy!
This poster treated their job as a means to an end the same way Emerson treats their employees as a means to an end. Nothing wrong with that.
I think is is bad form to complain about a place that has put food on the table. If you don’t like it then leave. No one has forced you to work there. AND while there you should give 100% selfishly because you can be more relevant for the next role at your next company.
Over the years as about 25 employees left that I kept up with it seemed about one third did better to much better, about a third did the same and a third were sorry they left. 75% worked for 2 or more companies over 5 to 15 years after leaving. The grass can be much greener- or noted
It's pathetic that someone milks a company for 6 years then has the audacity to post on an anonymous forum that they are secretly looking for a new job.
If your only goal since taking the job at Emerson was to get a degree and find another job how much real effort could you have possibly put in?
The reason Emerson's stock is above $80 is that they have leaders that identify the dead weight then cast them off to go pursue dreams of becoming a social worker.
Typical mindless drone response from an obvious long time and zero future current employee: from Post ID: @5epx+18m73vQ3
Enjoy your dead end life!
It is really losers like you who are the backbone of this horrid organization.
LOL when they will soon throw you out on your a– for being so loyal... continue being apathetic, it will take you a long way... dummy...
I'm as frustrated with Emerson as the next person, and I too will likely not be here for too much longer, but to talk about a place for how bad it was when the entire time you were not really invested in making it work is a little unfair. Great work in chasing your dream of being in social work. I just have to assume that many of the complaints you have stem from your lack of being a committed employee. Classic case of confirmation bias.
Again, I'm one of the many with the feelers out, but 6 years of just milking it while looking for the next thing is a recipe for being disgruntled.
Good luck with the Social work degree! LOL
Right on! That's exactly the right attitude!
So glad you didn't fall for their bull!
Good luck with your search and future new job, new place will be lucky to have you!
