Thread regarding Cummins Inc. layoffs

Pretty wasteful

This company seems to treat severance payments, replacement recruiting, replacement relocating and replacement training costs as if it was All free. Wouldn’t it be better for shareholders if they just managed the headcount the existing already located, Already trained and loyal workers? Pretty wasteful in my mind. HR people are not smart here!

Maybe, but mass layoffs tell Wall Street "Look, we're trying to cut costs! Please don't leave me!" Short term gains are all Wall Street cares about.
