Thread regarding JCPenney layoffs

Wilton Mall -- Saratoga Springs, NY

Received word today that we are not on the asset docket, which essentially guarantees we will be closing. We're a Macerich mall with two existing empty anchors.

Anyone know if the Pittsburg KS store at Meadowbrook Mall will be closing?

So far all of the ones I've seen that are missing are ones that are on owned land. I wonder if that changes anything.

Thank you for sharing. I found docket 1666 on page 24 if it helps anyone. Look for the name of your mall owner under Contracts. Our store was not on the list, which confirms all the red flags. I am a supervisor & it’s sad that the managers probably know & aren’t telling us.

A previous post had the docket number. You have to go to the restructuring site and do a specific search for the docket. It's not an easy process–it lists the stores (assets) that are being kept. There's no easy list of the stores being closed. However, if you're not on the list, it means neither of the new owners are acquiring your lease contract and your store will likely close.
