Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

This ship is sinking fast.

Sites are shutting down, assets are being sold and now, the annual happy holiday layoffs ...which will continue. This company doesn't give a sh– about its employees. If you're smart, you'll get out now.

I liked how they tried to get me to sign what seemed to amount to a full general release for a pitiful severance offering. Oh, and you can never tell anyone how much we s—, or we'll sue you.

No thank you. My integrity is more important than a few dollars. I'll continue to speak truthfully whenever someone asks. This feels a whole lot easier now that I'm no longer with SGAS.

I was there for almost 20 years ... it was never 1 month per year

Severance is 1 week salary for each completed year.

So, if you’ve hung around around for 10years waiting for the big pay out, your payout will consist if your notice period plus the equivalent if 10 weeks salary.

It used to be a month for every year. Then they changed it to 2 weeks for every year. Now it’s 1 week.

You can thank AD for that !

Severance is one month per year. But if they declare bankruptcy again, they don't need to pay any... And by the looks of things, they're selling off whatever they can, firing whoever they can so they can claim their fat Christmas bonuses again and then if they become insolvent again, they walk off into the sunset having picked every last bone clean without having to pay the remaining staff anything. Worst case scenario is still a financial win for them.

It has not been 2:1 severance for a couple of years. Would not be surprised if they cap it soon, either.

I would love to get riffed. We're now being asked to take on more work while dealing with the new needy customers they over promised to.

Still 2:1 years of service for severance?

Take it from a person riffed this year....the grass IS greener! So much fear mongering at sgas and from what I hear it's even worse now. Forget whatever severance you think you will get. It's not worth your sanity.

Whatever you decide, good luck to you!
