Thread regarding Cummins Inc. layoffs

Packing up!

Seeing my friends, colleagues even adversaries packing their belongings these past few weeks reminds me of many times before, and how I can easily be next. No job security here! Would not recommend Cummins to anyone.

When I initially got caught in the late 2015 layoffs, I was devastated. However, I was immediately able to get on in the industry at at 27% pay increase, better healthcare benefits, and without the constant threat of being "downsized" every year. I was content with my job at Cummins and hadn't realized that the salaries EVERYWHERE in the industry had outpaced them over the 15 years that I was there. That layoff was the best thing that could have happened to me. (an added bonus is that we have ZERO H1B and are all Americans!)

I left on my own; was with Cummins 10 years. I got tired of seeing people dismissed thru no fault of their own. Many Superstars shown the door - politics. I joined a competitor, and loving it. In fact, brought others from Cummins into the company. Wish I would’ve left sooner. Sad to know some friends are still there hanging onto the next threads!

I’ve known entire teams eliminated these past few months. No performance issues, downsizing and restructuring routine. Myself and a couple of others who earned our MBA that Cummins had paid for have already found higher salaries in market growing organizations. Leaving Cummins was the best career move that happened! Serendipity. Thanks for my MBA Cummins!
