While visiting Linkedin, it looks like the “Teradata lays off only to turn around to kick off a hiring surge” comments made here are true? Why discard existing talent for “budget reasons” only to re-hire “like” positions?

I think the good news for some people who want to join TD before it is completely sunk is that, if you could get connected with hiring manager, the bar is low now.
Just like what the other thread of posts here described, it seems management not only at E level wanted TD to fall apart. Talented loyal people got let go, and some low quality guys got hired just to reduce costs?
I left TD recently, while interviewed with one of the customers of TD, they complained that TD is their major bottleneck now. It’s embarrassing ...
I was whacked out of PS over a year ago after 7+ years of selling and delivering projects - I was 65 at the time. Landed a contract position within 8 weeks with a local firm and was hired into the company that contracted me after 16 weeks. Despite what businesses think, there is no replacement for experience, knowledge & judgement. You can hire all of the younger workers you want for less $$s if you can tolerate the OJT and compensate your cutomers with reduced rates & freebies.
The company I now work for is a Neteeza customer, a platform that is nearing EOL. The VP I work directly for has asked about TD as a potential replacement. While I still have a soft spot for the tech, the fact that TD has shed all of the resources who can actually implement the product I cannot in good conscience recommend that we consider the product. So we're looking at Snowflake, Azure and next gen Neteeza. You can't drive product sales if you can't implement and deliver on the marketing hype.
How else can the ELT fund more useless leadership without laying off people who actually can get things done?
Has anyone seen the birth certificate of NC? Im sure the intent of hiring him was to lower the average age of the ELT by half to show diversity. Certainly not for experience.
And don’t forget full time college kid getting full time salary with 0 deliverables.
The established employees should really be upset about the contractors we keep on at their expense. For example, Marketing has several contractors making over $100,000 that are there because they’re buddies with the bosses. And contractors don’t show up on the employee headcount.
Just remember that when they demand your loyalty.
as someone who is 52, believe me, age discrimination is real. Few companies want to pay for experience and judgment. "Good enough" is good enough. Looks like that is where TD is going
The answer is simple. Now they can hire clueless junior people cheaper to continue the downward spiral of what was once a great company with the best product capabilities. Now you have software that doesn’t perform and is full of empty promises; just like Teradata ELT. Now you have the perfect storm for complete failure of Teradata; clueless management at almost every level, clueless employees since experienced employees were let go and c-appy performing software. The savior cloud technology that Teradata is preaching is blowing far away due to the perfect storm.
