Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How about Europe - Country / Business Unit specific

I am an EM Employee with 20 years of service, located in Brussels - Belgium (European HQ)
Also here the number of employees who will get the boot up their *ss will be numerous although they do not speak about persons (names); but they rather speak about positions (what´s in the name right ?).
Not really sure where this thread will lead me . Maybe i will just use it to ventilate

I follow all these threads since a while now, and what i noticed is that the approach in the US is completely different than what we are used to see in our Country. I may praise myself lucky that the Unions are taking care of negotiations in order to have a "fair deal"(severance package) for the affected employees. The only downside in the whole story is that we live in uncertainty. ..We might only know in person, during Q1 or beginning of Q2 - 2021 if yes or no we will be sacked, and what the severance package will be. On top of that there will probably be asked to remain motivated and focussed to perform the MOC to the BSC´s...

Personally i am already in the mindset of getting the kick, as my feeling is that this is only wave 1 of the dismissals. There will be more to come. and seen the financial status and course the company is going, better to take the hit know than to sink with it to the deep completely in z later stage.

Honestly, this is not the company anymore i signed for like 20 years ago. Been through several positions and business units during my career. I met very intelligent people, learned a lot, made some good friends along the way; even outside my home country. One of the big issues the Cy . faces is that it is to slow to react, make decisions, and does not have the guts to stop a project halfway the road if economics still aren't viable. Most of the people only care about nice presentations, visibility, and how to lick themselves upwards.... (This is not my company anymore...) .

All resilience is gone;, an the sentence "We are in this together " taste really BAD...

So far my view / Story

Any more info regarding the announced layoffs in Belgium / or other European Countries, just shoot

Although European operations were already lean in comparison, the loss of experience in the US will not be recoverable either. The size of the company will only delay the inevitable, by 20 years or so. EM is finished.

36 years in the company in Europe and I was counting until being told that I’m just a number and that any beginner hired on the street in a GBC can do my job. The loss of experience in Europe will not be recoverable.
