I want to start by saying thank you for the opportunity to work for this company the past few years. I count them as valuable years that I do not regret spending with you. I leave the company today with my head held high knowing that I did the job I was hired for and asked to do and I went above and beyond expectations. While I think you made the wrong decision today not only for myself but for many of my colleagues, I hold no ill will toward you. I think in these circumstances it will be you who lose in the long run, not them. I understand that when you make decisions from such a high macro level via human judgement you are bound to make mistakes and likely many. I wish you nothing but the best in the years to come as well as to many of my dear colleagues and friends. As for me, I leave with my pride and dignity knowing that I am not defined by a title at ExxonMobil but rather my faith in Jesus Christ. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good. I look forward to growing wherever He may plant me.

Exxon is a joke, hiring new engineers in midland and Delaware basin while laying off current engineering staff, makes a lot of sense right! It happened today.
Perfectly said! I lost my 14 year old son last year in a tragic roping accident, I held my head high today and said this is NOTHING, but a job, I’ve been dealt much worse and I WILL PREVAIL STRONGER than EVER BEFORE, because GOD IS IN CONTROL! Best of luck with the one who they kept!
With your attitude, you will find meaningful work quickly. There are people who are staying that have the attitude that I would expect from a terminated employee, versus the poise and self-awareness that you are demonstrating. Be smart. Use placement agencies. Work your network. I wish you well.

How can I get Jesus to help me get a new job. I have noticed Jesus doesn't show up when his help is desperately needed. I fear only a Noah's ark made from money can protect protect me.
