You are worth more than a job at xom

I was PIPed unexpectedly in July. I started my new job at a Fortune 30 company yesterday and am loving it.

There is life after Exxon and it’s pretty good. You WILL find a job! Every person I’ve talked to who has left Exxon over the last couple of years, voluntarily or involuntarily, has said they are much happier with their current situation.

Take some time to self-reflect, take advantage of the career placement services, and develop a solid personal brand. You are worth more than a job at xom.

PIL’ed in July. Finally understand how the lady manager decided to stay quiet throughout the appraisal when her Line Manager condemned my performance without justification.
Witnessed the ugly faces of the LTs and glad that I opted for PIL.
Found a new job and felt so much happier, don’t have to worry for the silly ranking exercise conducted by a bunch of trolls.

Congrats. Same here. Finally realised that outside is really better.

I now have a relevant and respected job at a company that Fortune won't ever rank.
I like it best that way.

To "No Light in Sight": You have to snap out of it, you will be fine. Be strong and confident, and start collecting unemployment. You worked hard and deserve to benefit from it.

I was also PIPd in July and no luck finding another job. I am ready to give up and just throw my towel to the side. I am not collecting Unemployment Benefit from state, also paid for by ExxonMobil. No light in sight, it's all darkness.

I also was let go in July and just started my new job at a small company working in defence. I won't lie, being unemployed s—s, and you have no idea where the end of the tunnel is. But there is light, and there are things beyond XOM! This lay off does not define you!
