Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

HR being gutted, how does that work?

If you're in HR do you have a zoom meeting with yourself? Do you create the forms, print them out, and sign all boxes? Do you ask yourself if you have any questions? Do you email yourself letting you know that "the deed has been done?"

When I was PIP’d back in July, I never saw or spoke to an HR rep. Only an email with forms to sign and return when I took the PIL.

Do they even exist?

Cannot agree with pecking on HR folks.

HR folks are just another group - one that will be heavily impacted in the redesign.
HR folks did not design the system, define the percentages, or make the communications.
They simply did what their role was - which was ill-defined and not much of a role after all.

They came into this place thinking Human resources - Humans!. A positive thought.
But, in this company, a resource is a resource.
Resources in ExxonMobil are intended to be burned/exploded or denatured into compounds.

A 43% reduction in US. HR (35% layoff + 8% disguised layoff NSI). Time for even the few HR survivors to look for another job because many of them will be NI and NSI next year. Winning!!

Hey Dumbo. Their immediate supervisor informs them. If I were you I'd be worried about both the impending layoffs and the next PIP cycle.
