I know many people hated the wait, but I'm grateful we were given the time to prepare. I won't be happy if I'm laid off, but I will not be caught with my pants down either. And if I'm lucky and I'm not laid off, then I'll still be in a better position than I was before the announcement, since it forced me to be proactive. My point is, this could have been done in a worse way and I'm grateful for these small favors.

Managers will be told on the 1st (tomorrow) or 2nd of December, from their boss, who is going to be cut (yes that's right, final decision will likely be 3-5 levels up from you. So if you're boss told you that you're safe, you've been had!)
That manager will then notify any of those on the list (not up for discussion) who are its direct reports.
Then, he/she/it tells his/her/its supervisors to notify those who are the soup's direct reports. The soup then tells its directs reports and so and and so forth.
Buckle up because there WILL be surprises that managers are not expecting (just because a manager recommended XXX should be saved, does not mean that's how it will go down. The decision maker's have different set of criteria than your friend the boss. Sorry to break it to ya.
Got a 30 min zoom with my super scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Wish me luck!
Already the axes are happening
Any layoffs announced today?
Amazing....bunch of crying babies at XOM....All these tough guys are in fact the most insecure people in the world. Come on...Check this forum for CXO, Shell, etc. and all of them lost even more people than us but nobody nobody cried like us, and we asked so many silly questions, and what/if, and complained, and begged, and, and...Employment is a contract then any party can break at any time for any reason....Or go work somewhere else where you can not get fired.
Many layoffs are going to be announced today and this week. Good luck all.
