Leave now, you'll thank yourself later

I still can't believe I've wasted two years of my life at Apache. Two years under a useless manager with no management or any other skills, two years in a toxic work environment, two years having to do two jobs for the pay of one. I finally got the courage to leave a month ago and I feel like a new man. My new job pays about as much as I got at Apache but everything else is a marked improvement. My new team is great, manager included. Even with the pandemic everybody seems to enjoy their jobs which makes the work atmosphere immeasurably better. I'm finally no longer dreading going into work.

My point is, there are better opportunities out there. Don't let this place bog you down when there are viable alternatives. In any case and whatever you decide, good luck!

Two years = job hopper? Nope! More like stay at Apache = ignorant (or low self esteem). Most in the industry understand the accident that is Apache and forgive the decision to join/reward the smarts to get out early.

It's a horrible company. It's like making friends with cell mates at Dachau. You suffer together and the bond is strong, glued with trauma.

2 years? Job jumper?

Great idea, why don’t I strap on my helmet and carapult myself into job land, where jobs grow on jobbies!?

Pandemic will end, energy consumption will increase, maybe not to pre covid levels, but better than now. And companies will need people. Humans keep reproducing, consumption will increase until we reach some sort of equilibrium. Renewables are growing, but at really small pace.

Good for you! I think a lot of Apache employees are looking for their next move.

i was in a similar situation and left after 5 years. Found a new job that paid about the same but the environment is much better. Just miss some of the people I used to work with...
