Just found out that we are switching to hourly effective Feb 1st. Haven't spoke to the store manager yet as of what kind of compensation I will receive, I'm guessing that will happen this coming week. Has anyone spoken to their manager and if so how do they figure out what your pay is going to be, cause women shoes is base plus instead of draw. Plus the hourly wage is higher with less commission %.

eeewww!!!! And I thought we had it bad in ready-to-wear dealing with underarm stains.
Starting on February associates from other departments can pickup shifts in shoes and shoes associates can pickup shifts from other departments. The shoes department is a non commission department so there will be open shifts for all associates in our store.
It might be a ploy for no commissions to get rid of high hourly more than $14. Since there will be no drive anymore as pay checks will be same . Also lord and Taylor did this took away commissions and in 1.5 years it was done.
Womens Shoes without commission would be Hell. The customers who try every shoe in the dept. to see what will fit their bunions or hammer toes, then tell us what a bad shoe selection we have, are really nasty. Women with dirty feet, who try on Clearance shoes without socks, are pretty disgusting. The worst are customers with out-of-control toenail fungus, with long, curling nails. (The memories still give me chills.)
It is not good. Shoes is the most stressful job in the store. They should be compensated quite well for that.
Are all the stereotypes about women's shoe sales I learned from Married With Children true?
Not sure how old the new is but it’s fairly new to us. I don’t know specifically how the new hourly rates are determined but when you meet with your manager, you will go over a document that breaks it all down. Our shoe team is not happy is all I know.
This is old news.
No runners , no commissions. Not worth it. Women shoes is the most stressful place in the store. If they offer the same hourly. Just walk out. No notice. Give them as much respect they gave you.
