Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

The culture Bernard is fostering is all about being obedient and singing the same tune as him. Agility: best thing ever!!! BP being a cool company: yaay i am so excited!!! Wework new stupid open office layout: where do I sign up!!!! Social media, social justice issues, unreasonable diversity quotas: heck yeah!

This attitude gets passed down in the ranks and it becomes an expectation that if you disagree or raise concerns, you're not a team player, resistant to change etc. In a time and economy like this - do you really want to bring that kind of attention to yourself?

E&C serves a mechanism for the bp to know what has potential of becoming a whistleblower. It is not a legal requirement to have an E&C function.

It has nothing to do with the recent restructure, BP has had this same problem for at least 15 years. E & C exists only to keep the company legal and out of the newspapers, try complaining to opentalk see how quickly your concerns are dismissed.

BP is no worse than many other corporates, they just need to stop claiming to be better than they are.

Of course people aren’t gonna speak up when their jobs are at stake... common sense.

bp is mostly bad quality advertising with no fundamentals of marketing. The speak up program market value is null - same worth as those talented / high potential "leaders" that implemented it. Can you count with your hand # of people claiming they were even part of it? It is like foul odor detected by 3rd graders... tons of laugher is one thing you can expect. Move on. bp does not have dna to generate positive energy. Some people only will admit it after breathing air outside bp's armpit.

It's natural that in times of change, people are more reluctant to speak up. Having said that personally there is no way I would speak up at bp at the moment. A lot of that depends on your line manager of course, but I wouldn't trust anything to go through the formal process of I'm afraid. There does seem to have been a lot of upheaval to that team and I too have heard some dismay at some of the placements/leavers. Time will tell of course, we can only hope that things will improve :-)
