Countdown to February WFR

Me thinks this blog is about to light up with news of pending FY22 WFR. It hit me by surprise back in September, looking back there was nothing I could’ve done differently to avoid being let go. Things have gotten worse post- September ‘20. Not better! Closed offices across the country, leadership changes at VMWARE. Winter is far from over.
Let’s cut through the rumors and try to give honest warning and advice to others who could be impacted soon. If you disagree with me PLEASE SPEAK UP. If have solid updates- please comment.

Couldn't be further from the truth, my manager is asking the team to refer anyone they think would be a good fit because we've recently had more investment into our business unit - as others pointed out, raises/promos/matching is re-instated. It appears the company rollback of benefits drove away enough folks that they actually need to hire again. One final thought, it seems clear folks are choosing to be blind to the fact that they signed up for a corporate role - Dell operates literally the same way as every other corporate institution with 10,000+ employees regardless of industry space.

> Things have not exactly gotten worse, benefits have been re-instated starting this month and the business is pretty solid.

Good to hear that! The stock price seems to reflect that! Go Dell!

Dell Trolls? Countdown asked for people posting to avoid speculation, stop the spread of rumors, and
asking for feedback and advice for folks who rightfully may be a bit stressed. Dell trolls seemed to be playing defense. I worked for a Dell mostly owned company and appreciated the heads up that was posted on our layoff blog. I was able to get out ahead of WFR and easily found a great place to land.
My ADVICE to Countdown and to All. Keep in mind that Covid-19 impacts to our economy are currently unknown. If you're currently unemployed please remain optimistic and know that that better days are ahead. If you're employed and concerned about job security. Your concerns may be valid and should not be dismissed. IMO, I don't think Dell will do another WFR unless there is no other option. It never hurts to start looking for opportunity. Get assistance from your professional network and expand your social circle by volunteering. (it's good for you mental health).

Like why are you here making posts like this? Shouldnt you be looking for another job? Im sorry you were hit out of nowhere in Sept, but just coming here to post doom and gloom doesnt help anyone especially you.

As others have said, things are looking really good right now. 401k match is back, as is promotions and raises. An email also came out yesterday i believe and buried in it was a comment that we did "our best holiday and black friday ever" this past one, which only makes the prospect of a bonus even better than it already was. (They said a month or so ago were still on track for one).

I know also of at least one person who was let go in Sept that is already back. Im very optimistic at this point that things are on the right track.

Why would it be Feb for WFR , they would do it end of Jan before FY22 , before budgets are allocated They had a big lay off but looks good for now.

Odd. Since we are just speculating I have heard it is getting progressively better specifically because you are gone. See, I can make up things too.

Things have not exactly gotten worse, benefits have been re-instated starting this month and the business is pretty solid. Have not heard any news or rumors of an upcoming February WFR, so not sure what prompted you to post this other than pure speculation from outside the company. Sorry you were impacted back in September, but this type of speculating doesn't help anyone.
