I’ve noticed every year the focus is on HOW we work instead of the actual technology we work with. Administrative overhead is up easily 50% and productivity is down. More and more business degrees and MBA types are becoming my colleague rather than hiring technology experts we desperately need.
This is a great observation and something I have wanted to write for a long time. Seems like Kroger doesn’t care about technology experts at all.
Oh good g-d, Kroger doesn't believe in Tech. Well, they do, just the version that was around 10 years ago. .All Kroger wants it for it's Shipted site to be on top and the rest of it can rot as far as corporate is concerned. Everyone in WA is being cut. Nice huh?
Be happy you don't work for any of the subsidiaries. It's a madhouse around the country with Kroger and Rodney Ripoff. Home office expects people to work on antiquated tech and make everything sparkle. It's ridiculous and a total waste of time. If you are in your 50's or 60's - YOU ARE THE NEXT TO GO. Heard straight from the horses mouth. Yup - Kroger will find some way to 're-org' and make your position no longer applicable and then ask you to 're-apply' with the same company you've been working for and 'interview' for a job that has NOTHING to do with what you have been doing for the company for the past 8 or so years. Of course, they will say that some 16 year old (no offense, not the kids fault) has interviewed better than you Ms. Manager and you are CANNED. If you are in your 40's or early 50's I'd be looking for another job asap before they fire you - because that's Rodney's history and is now Kroger's. And to think I used to like living in Ohio.
