How is SP even solvent? Massive retail exposure that's been desamated by Covid, loss of business to Amazon.

I don't get how they can even pay bills or get financing!

SP is trying to polish the t–d that is staples as best they can before they gut and sell. No one is going to buy staples currently but if they can add Office Depot they may find a buyer. Amazon will still take a majority of the market but at least they can be a player

After working for Staples for years, I would like WB Mason to buy both and show us how to operate profitably! WB Mason has always been viewed as a large threat. They at least have their act together!

Original idea?...try again! This disaster will at least provide Staples leadership something to do! Once this goes south and millions are spent, that should be the end. Great job!!

Must have more stores to close. Need to close more.... think the zombie scene from night of the living dead...must eat brains...
SP will just close all the competing stores in markets that have multiple locations.... it might actually work, but it will also put people out of work. Inconvenience customers.
It's also an assh×le move that the feds should nix.

This is Staples pivoting to another acquisition when the WB Mason deal fell threw. This is a great deal for Staples. They were at one point in negotiations between $900 million and $1.3 billion for WB Mason. I bet WB still had that deal on the table.

Let’s take another bite at this rotten apple! And the fact that they are asking for OD to sell off their b2b division before being acquired is...odd? Apparently the several hundred million dollar break up fee that was paid out before wasn’t lesson enough.

A reverse stock split will do that to a share price. You can't just look at a share price and compare it to another company without context.

This entire movement to acquire Office Depot is a waste of time. WTH is Sycamore thinking on this one? Already attempted twice before and went down in flames. It will again.
Staples said it would consider upping its proposed valuation if Office Depot were to divest certain units, like its CompuCom division or its U.S. business-to-business unit.
So, it appears the are only after the store footprints. Makes absolutely NO sense.

ODP shares at almost $44 . Everyone thought they were terrible , but I don’t remember SPLS ever being that high , especially in the last decade under the amazing leadership of RS and SG . What a joke.

Why isn't anyone internally talking about it?
