Waived Wellness Check

Has anyone else experienced the following situation ? A colleague was advised by HR that she had trace contacted Covid. She was told that she had a choice to work or not, and if she choose not to, that she would not be paid. She was also advised if she opted to work to NOT perform the wellness check before coming in. Has anyone heard of this happening??

I believe it. We had a colleague return from her loa and she just told me yesterday that they told her to come back even though she tested positive still. They told her as long as she doesn’t have any symptoms, she can return. She didn’t mention anything about wellness checks. Over the summer another coworker was telling me her friend at another location was told to return Eve though they were testing positive. I didn’t believe it then, but I heard it directly from a colleague. So yeah, now I believe it.

It is entirely possible. Countless stories from the fleet describe Covid apathy in relation to wellness checks. For example, there was a store in South Florida, a former growth door, that did not perform wellness checks for weeks.

Also, the thermometers used for the check are of the cheapest quality and patently unreliable displaying inhumane temperatures of 88.3 F, 90.7 F, Lo, etc. Colleagues submit to the charade as a job requirement but few if any admit to being unwell as a potential of income loss awaits.

The wellness check is intended to check the box of liability protection, not protect the health of employees and customers.

what the hell is the point of the wellness check if they tell associates to lie or not do the wellness check?

I think policy says you go without pay while you wait for your test results but shouldn't lose any attendance credits and if you do end up positive you get two weeks of paid time off during your quarantine time if you feel like they're pressuring you to come in take the wellness test anyways it'll flag you in the system and they'll have to send you home
