Thread regarding Fossil Inc. layoffs

SEVERANCE

What to expect in severance package? I hadn’t thought too much about it before, so I didn’t even inquire.
I am also interested in what happens to those who do not accept the severance package? Is it even possible not to accept it and is there anyone who thinks it is a good option?

Thanks in advance for any information.

They apparently don't do too much tracking...I have an ex manager...that still works there...that keeps most of their work on a jump drive. Why so paranoid if you are a SEC filant, not a private company...
aren't your numbers public?!

If corporate: a week's pay/year worked, some allowance for medical expenses, paid out vacation at 40%, and maybe a couple extra weeks of pay. You will also get information regarding the very expensive COBRA insurance, but the marketplace is probably cheaper at this point in the year. Good luck negotiating. If you don't accept it, then you probably just don't get a severance.

They will also shut down your access to your computer almost immediately, so make sure any personal information and files are cleared. They track things you send through your computer, so they will know if you have transferred any company documents, and will contact you when they find out.

Negotiate, depending on your circumstances you may be able to extract more from them. Look at current market conditions to make a case and contracts you may have signed. Employment tenure as well. Don’t sign non competes or non disclosures if it will hinder your employment prospects, why should you give up prospects if they were the ones who ruined the business. These are difficult to enforce anyway but push back at every point what do you care they’re proving disloyalty at that point they aren’t your friend. Take it as a working document, amend it and send it back, do what they never let you do there have an actual open discussion if only through writing. Prepare in advance don’t let them to run out the clock on negotiations.
