Last fall they made cuts to the train dispatching workforce to "right size" the department. Along with an increase of Covid-19 cases within the department, they also didn't expect the large amount of resignations after the bloodbath of layoffs. Now they are shorthanded, very shorthanded. The resignations continue. The CN management metrics are about to cripple this company as the dispatcher workloads are now unmanageable and employees are walking away. How many more desks can they combine? Who wants to come in and work weekends, holidays, and extra days for less pay (RULA) just to get blamed for delays which are a direct result from the company's decisions, not the train dispatcher? Come February this company might be in quite a pickle after people get whatever bonus the company is giving, if at all; more resignations coming.

Hunt and Morehunt have this thing teetering on the brink of collapse. CADX or not, they have overloaded these jobs and left no resources to cover for vacancies and resignations. Thanks for the knock off brand cooler though, that makes it all better.
Ain't lance great, he has a fat wallet $$$$
Can't wait to see it fail!!!
What's great is Now dispatchers understand why we go into super extra safety mode when the corridor Mgrs start playing games, screwing crews around and making dumb decisions. GAME ON!
They can’t decide where they want to hide Lischer
The new head of the FRA is Mayor Pete, so I wouldn’t expect a whole lot of help there.
I'm kind of curious as to how CADX has impacted things. Are they running that now? Is everyone complaining about it?
This is great to hear. Im over this company and their evil greedy B.S. im moving on to another trade as the realization that we are soon to be history as conductors sets in. I hope more than anything Union Pacific fails. I dream about it daily
I’ve been hearing the same thing regarding chaos in the dispatch ranks. Apparently they’re so short handed they’ve been asking corridor managers to step in and do the job of dispatchers. Some of these corridor managers were never even dispatchers before. If you are a field employee taking a train anywhere now is a better time than ever to keep your head on a swivel because the dispatcher talking to you may either be completely exhausted or not even fully trained. This is what happens when you put short term profits over the long term stability of your company. All one had to do to know this was going to happen was look at the Canadian railroads where they cut so deep they were putting corporate employees on call as conductors.
The SP merger was a completely different set of circumstances and was done by people with a completely different mindset. Chaotic back then? Absolutely.
Don’t count on the FRA to change anything. Regardless of what political party is in power, the FRA pretty much goes along with the class 1’s on policy.
I am assuming that a new administration would nominate a new head of the FRA. I’m pretty sure things will change here soon so I’m being told.
Sorry, but if they made it through the SP merger, they'll make it through this. That was 10x more chaotic than this is. Abandoned trains and clogged up mainlines everywhere.
Good let this greedy corporation fall , and fall hard! For what they have done to their employees the last couple of years , and for that matter since this company started. Karma is areal thing , and I hope they get it 10 fold!!!
The greatest part is there is no hiring class in the works. A dispatcher takes 6 months to train and 2-4 years to get decent. When it downward spirals it will go down fast. I have heard they are raiding the company for former dispatchers and making them requalify.
It’s the same thing in the mechanical department right now as well. I think pretty much everybody hates this company and what it has become.
