My store manager took a “ leave “. Sounds like trying another job out till they quit. So Macy’s announced another 45 stores to be closed by mid 2021 and another 125 stores over next 3 years. That’s 170 out of 800 brings it to happy number of 630 stores . My take is. It’s gonna be more than that. And the death spiral has begun

You are wrong... we announced last year we were closing 125 stores over the next 3 years INCLUDING those that just closed

This comes from DVP and Regionals my store manager is amazing and is getting the same heat....trickle down effect...

- Made to feel stupid as if you can't do your job although you have done it for YEARS and received manager of the YEAR, endless awards, spot bonus awards and had a 6.4 rated review from 2019 out of a possible 7
- Nothing is ever good enough
- Nit picked to death over things that do not matter
- Harassed and made to come up with action plans around Credit, Bronze and MAGIC scores
(Cant open credit with nobody in the store/I can't come up with an action plan when all the comments are "Not enough staff", my action plan is HIRE MORE PEOPLE)
To the poster about motivating and inspiring colleagues is spot on. That's because people who are supposed to be "leaders" are far from it. A little training or having the right people in the right place would have made a difference. In addition, treating people with a little dignity would also have been appreciated.
My store manager like some and despise others. Life is miserable to the point of getting rid of people considered in the way. No productivity just misery.

I can believe it. If your DVP or RDSO does not like the way you present your self or some other small trait they disapprove of they will make your life (or an executive on your teams) a living hell. Even if you bust your butt and get results for the company. How you are perceived is no longer based upon achieving metrics & goals. Macy’s has become a miserable place to work due to leaders who no longer motivate and inspire their teams.
No my math is correct. They are closing 45 store by mid 2021. And closing 150 stores over 3 years
Your math is off. The 45 are part of the 125, not in addition to.
Mine quit with no notice. She was employed for over 20 years by Macy’s. I have spoken to her personally since she left. She told me she was not eating, not sleeping and this holiday season nearly destroyed her entire family and her marriage of 30+ Years.
