Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

New Year with low expectations. Thank you Paul Reilly

Well the new year has started and I still haven't found a job. I've been forced to sign up for early retirement just to get by. I'm also about to tap into my 401k. This is the thanks 550 of us got after months of promises from Paul that things are OK for ALL of us. I wish no ill will on any current "worker bees" but hope for months of major incidents for Paul, Vin and Bella that will be on the front page of the WSJ and others. It's been nearly 4 months and my anger still hasn't subsided. Perhaps I will feel better once I see some interesting news articles. I wish good luck on all the 550 that were let go and hope they do well.

We are all responsible for our own employability. You have to think of yourself as a business/asset. These companies don't care about people. I hope you find your worth and a new job.

I was one of the 550 let go last September. I did get a reasonable severance package but it can only go so far when you are 60 with no job prospects, and yes I have been looking and finding nothing. Florida unemployment is sad at only $275 but I will take whatever is available. Already looking at taking out of my 401k in a couple months which will impact future growth. What disappoints me most is hearing Paul Reilly state in his town hall that they new they were overstaffed months before the layoff. Why wasn't there a job freeze then and/or reallocating associates to different positions to keep us all working. I am moving on from RJ and warn all current associates (worker bees) to be careful, don't trust management. The old work, work, play ethos is long gone.

If they saw this it would just make them feel better about letting you go. (You're unprepared for the unexpected) I'm very sorry they let you go as I'm sure you were a loyal employee.

They should feel much worse about letting go well prepared individuals in a layoff. As being well prepared means you have good foresight which is a good trait in business.

RJ, you made a mistake letting some go. I've been enjoying my time off with all the money you guys have paid me that I saved obsessively. Not even looking for a job. I've been relaxing and enjoying myself. I hated being a slave. Thanks for freedom and all the cash. And hey maybe you guys should actually look into blockchain and get actual developers that know what their doing and not code monkeys with terrible fundamentals. (But knowing you guys you'll hire more b—s—ters to take more of your money and produce garbage)

Have a good time running RJ into the ground :)
