Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

More disconnected than ever?

Technology improvements does not cause a lack of trust in one’s company. That comes from poor management that pioneer continues to not address. Pioneer created a monster for years by promoting unskilled workers and now those workers are executives who don’t have a clue what their employees do. The huge disconnect between workers and management is just magnified in times like these

OP @6sye+18xSDdSN, that’s exactly what's bothered me in this company for years, and I think it’s more pronounced now than ever. As if those at the top never see what’s going on at the bottom. Blind leading the blind!

Very accurate post. PXD has this crazy idea that they can put people through their BS management training classes and then have them run a department they do not understand. In many cases the people could never do the job of anyone on their team and/or are not a fit for the job. They end up managing people who process information and work in a way foreign to them and cannot offer any assistance or training. They also often do not appreciate those people's skills which translates to poor choices during layoffs. If these newly minted department managers leave PXD they will never get a job elsewhere at that level as they have no technical skills.

Not to mention the nepotism that is rampant within the company, which keeps underperforming people moving up.

I'm surprised some of the executives that troll this site haven't defended their actions. I guess they must know it's all the truth too.

of course. Look at what Tim Dove did. Promote to top guys and blew out the budget by 700 mil forcing a sale of PPS way below value. Its good ol boys. Make connections, do not build skills.

This is very correct about Pioneer promoting unskilled workers. I worked as a contractor GeoTech. Interviewed at Pioneer for open Geotech positions. Each time an inside pioneer employee was hired into the position, ie Land Clerk, Records Management tech, Admin, etc. I then realized Pioneer does not recognize nor appreciate GT’s for their skills and work. Ive seen other GT’s on the outside hired because they knew someone on the inside to push for them. They are gone now. 24 I am in a much better position elsewhere and am loving it.

The company is ran by people who have never worked at another company and bring no world experience to the table. Uneducated "yes men" and women who painted fence posts before working there.

They get rid of people who know what they are doing, are qualified with experience! They come up with some bs to get rid of them! They replace with yes people who have no clue how to do the job right!

This is the most accurate post on here.

How many departments are run by individuals that have never done the job?
