'Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the store
Cheap masks out of China, gloves made of latex lay on the floor;
Plexi shields, hand sanitizer, high touch cleaning with care,
In hopes that the Corona virus won't soon be there;
123,000 employees nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of layoffs once again danc'd in their heads;
And Adrian in his visor, and Jeff on his phone,
Determined to make bonus, real estate deals and cuts to the bone;
When out in the market, there arose such a clatter,
The vaccine is here, brick and mortar will once again matter;
Pfizer, Moderna, herd immunity won't be here in a flash,
Expense savings needed, to not burn through cash;
Out the 34th street office windows, Adrian saw down below,
Aging stores in the fleet with little luster in the new fallen snow;
When what to his wondering eyes should appear,
But a way to cut $1.5 billion in just one more year;
Jeff with his entourage, so lively and quick,
Have come up with a plan that should do the trick;
Neighborhood stores are first on the list,
Followed by streamlining positions they think won't be missed;
With a wink of an eye and a nod of his head, Adrian knew not to dread,
Jeff and his team have done this before, North Star, Polaris, all in the sled;
After the holidays again we will play,
Who has a chair when the Christmas music goes away;
