Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Laid off with open HR case- comments

Were you laid off with a case open with Human Resources? I was. Does HR even do anything with the complaints/cases they get? I found a better job and am glad to be gone questioning what other people have to say about HR cases

Most of the time we dont even answer the phone. What's the point. If we're dispensible and disposable why be so loyal to that place. No way. It's a 8-5, then gone. Biding time until they lay us off, then get that UI and laugh at the senior citizen management boomers that run that dump.

I was laid off with an open case. I believe it was opened because they wanted to get rid of me (put on a CAP) I was fine with it, it’s a game. Play the game and if you are lucky you too will get a package. Agree with other posts HR is NOT your friend. They bring you in. They get you out.

My greatest joy is answering my phone as if I was Still an Optum employee out of habit and then correcting myself to the caller and laughing about being set free from there. I check in from time to time here. Nothing has changed at Optum it seems. Perhaps jump ship to another company. I did. Happier yes but also similar c-ap happens with all other insurances But now that I left I see how awful Optum really was and apparently still is! Do you know every UR universally hates Optum so it’s a good laugh we have when i predictably mess up my call answering. I can’t help it after decades of indoctrination there at Optum. At least it’s good for a laugh. I let them know what an awful place it is. They say employees are rude there at Optum. I defend the employees confirming it’s the company that k–ls your spirit and that people who work for Optum start out good until the company sinks their teeth in. HR is awful. But the more you call HR the more assure you are with lay-off or firing. It’s done on purpose by employees when you just don’t have courage to leave and prefer to be shoved out. I wanted unemployment at the time so I just kept complaining to HR. Eventually it worked! I’m out and doing much better.

HR... I received an email saying the case is closed... I kept digging for an answer... all they could say is “they were talked to”... another case still pending 20 days later...

HR was useless. They are independent contractors with no vested interest in employee relations.

The only reason to go to HR is to get termed with some type of package.

HR job is to bring you in. HR job is to get you out.

The only time to talk to HR is in case you do not get your annual w2 for tax purposes or you think your accrued vacation time is wrong.

They do manages cases. But the result will not be in favor of the employee making the complaint. And then be prepared for retaliation. My former department had 4 individuals make a complaint to HR and all were retaliated against. And yes they were valid complaints. Just don’t bother and start looking for something else.
