Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

Some interesting words

Interesting when people write comments here telling us how we should feel, what not to say, when they are not going through this layoff. It is okay to have these feelings, talk about them, and then move on. We have good days and bad days. You have no idea what this layoff is like until you are in it.

I found this message below from someone who has been through a layoff.

Being between jobs is a horrible ordeal especially during COViD . Be kind to yourself, find ways to reconnect with your skill set whether it’s projects around the home, volunteer work, classes, etc. You are still the same fully capable person you were when you were working. When I was out, I used to wish I had an employee badge just so I would feel like I belonged. Just remember it’s not an “if” it’s a when, and keep at it. When you have bad days, step away from the search to do things that help you restore yourself, whether that’s exercise, yoga, meditation, coffee with friends. No one can wrestle with a job search 24 x 7.

Yep, I know I need to be optimistic but I think I am your normal person that has days of optimism and days of pessimism. Still looking for a job but now I can tell it is different, too many people without a job, the virus crisis, jobs with so many requirements and so many applicants. Still no job, and as things are going probably my first holidays without a job. Yep, it's easier to give advice when one has a job...

I agree. I have seen some comments from people still employed at RJ and their words make me furious. I know that they are well intended but they still have a routine, a paycheck, a normal home life. For those of us on the other side all of that has changed. Please think before you post.
