Cummins to open German fuel cell factory in 2021

Engine manufacturer Cummins, United States, has announced that it will open a new hydrogen fuel cell systems factory in Herten, Germany, in July 2021.

They’re building it where they can score government $$$ and regulation. CNG has been a bust in the US and the military is still buying new N14s (yes, Cummins still makes them). It’s hard for Cummins to innovate at home when there are no new regulations (EPA) to “break” reliable, bullet-proof engines and squelch competition for them.

Why not in the US? Hire Americans? Just a thought. “Plans” to open a new facility a year from now is not expansion, after closing several plants globally and cutting thousands of jobs: it’s sustaining; not gaining.
How about opening new plants, while maintaining existing plants, and increasing the workforce. That’s growth! Oh wait: that’s rewriting history.

So what it looks like is that they are going to put all the new tech and new buildings for it in other countries while they draw down the old technology in Columbus tech centers along with people.
