If the economy turns around, do you anticipate any General Electric Layoffs 2021? Any news or rumors?

GE has always run its operations on the lean side [GE stretches its people a lot] with annual layoffs, the exception being GE Research and HQ where the hog is fat. Culp's aim is to raise the stock price for the shareholders, which is the primary metric, as CEO, he is measured, and that means more layoffs and cost cutting forthcoming this year and future years ahead.
People disapear all the time in GE. After few days, weeks... you just notice someone is not in. It is hard working like that.
What's bad for the airline industry is bad for GE.

i am sure more layoffs everywhere as our new political leaders in US turn jobs into social programs.
GE is running on a lot less right now because people are stretching a lot and surviving, hoping for a much better tomorrow. However that doesn't mean the overall GE environment has improved and people are happy. If things continue as is a lot of folks are going to give up and leave. Also don't forget that many projects are just in maintenance mode.
One thing GE is learning is they can run with a lot less employees so count on lots of shifts and layoffs to continue until they get to a good fighting weight. Probably around 2023. LC new this all along pushing for Lean to weed out non productive jobs. Covid-19 just gives them excuse to move faster.
GE always has layoffs. No reason to expect GE to stop the layoff business model now. Why would anybody want to work for such a corrupt company.
there is plenty of room for layoffs. Culp needs to cut costs in order to boost the share price so he can benefit from his (lower) targeted share price.
Get to work
