Is this going to be an interesting year as it relates to Intel Layoffs 2021? Any news or rumors?

Intel has lost its vision ... Craig Barrett said intel is a platform company ... intel should jusf focus on being the greatest platform company possible...
Find out what mid level managers are doing. Cut the fat.
Remember what PSO said during SET in 2006, "Our objective, and our destiny, is to refashion Intel now WHILE WE HAVE THE MEANS AND THE TIME TO DO SO, and ensure we continue to remain number one." (emphasis mine) – this was concurrent with iPhone was being feverishly developed and concurrent with PSO himself declining to be part of it
When rest of industry sees opportunity, Intel lays off
2021 feels similar–record revenues and profits, and management has had stuck in sand and is just blind to all the opportunities around. So instead of aggressively pursuing new opportunities they will layoff. This is why in 2021 apple is worth more than $2 trillion, and Intel 1/10th that–also why in 2021 a cpu in a stinking mobile phone is generations more advanced than cpu in high performance desktop computers
Intel tends to do large layoffs when (a) the current financials look good (and as a result, staffing might be perceived as gotten a little “fat”) but (b) problems are clearly seen ahead. ACT and SET we’re both like that.
This is the situation we find ourselves in right now, so a big round of layoffs sure seems possible. Whether they do a big public cut vs trickle reduction is a function of Intel’s appetite for blowback stemming from the former.
Their needs to be accountability for all of the problematic acquisitions, so identify the executives who felt these purchases as essential and get rid of them.
I feel bad for the acquired companies, as many/most would have been better on their own.
mobileye cost intel $15B. Lets see how much it will be sold. Another big screw up.
Altera will probably be sold cheap before the year is over, no?

Save your popcorn for January
How much money did Intel make, how much did they squander with the hillbillies in Hillsboro? Is the new Queen there capable of fixing it? How will more money thrown at those incompetent hillbillies going to improve US manufacturing? The last two generations are a total FUBAR and more money isn’t the solution.
A quicker way to bring manufacturing to US is to reward companies like Nvidia, Apple, AMD, Qualcomm and their manufacturing partner. Intel is finished as a leading edge manufacturing. Look only at the competence and expertise / background of the CEO, any questions ?
Use it to buy back all the stock and go private
The management team is extremely clueless. We had the C team 3-4 years ago, now we have the D team. ELT discussions are led by charlatans. Now we have aicha’s buddy joining as cso, expect more clueless ways to waste money, bad execution, of course more layoffs so that exec team gets their bonus.
Execution can only improve with good leaders and strong employee engagement. We have totally clueless management. Employee engagement is really low. Employees don’t trust and respect theOr management teams, every group in the company. So it is inevitable, execution is going to suffer.
Stock buybacks are easy when you generate billions in profits. If financials weaken, they are going to be able to buy stocks. So what is next...more layoffs. Once layoffs start, it is a downward spiral.
Outsourcing says it all, why bother to invest in any more manufacturing or development.
Slow sell off in Hillsboro, Ireland, Israel, and Arizona
I think the only thing keeping Bob from shutting down the Santa Clara HQ is just optics. How can the company that gave Silicon Valley its name shutdown operations? The most important design groups aren't really in SC anymore. And there are no real manufacturing Fabs in SC.
But when you juxtapose Intel's tired old blue box office exterior with Nvidia's gleaming new and modern looking Endeavor and Voyager offices just down the street, you wonder why they don't just demolish the RNB, SC9/11/12 offices just like the neighboring Vishay-Siliconix office.
I'm curious to see what happens if several more quarters of extending product forecast. Could be in unchartered waters, and soon.
whole company will be shifting to low cost geo
buy high sell low
2020/21 definitely sell low due to slowdown
Correct, layoffs will continue but no massive actions like SET. Expect asset sell offs as well. They might even freeze hiring beyond just the USA.
They will keep it low profile and cut one division at a time.
