Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Is there anybody not looking?

How many are actively trying to find a new job?

Happy to be high performer this year, but I left shortly after ranking and many were caught by surprise. It is the best time to exit during my high, not during my low - unpredictable.

It's fun to watch some people who are so happy and proud that they are "High Performers" of the "Low" performing organization. LOL. That explains a lot what has been going on with XOM.

This is very difficult to judge without knowing your BL. I know plenty of folks in Chemicals not looking but several in Upstream and GP that are. Part of it is dependent on what your BL cuts look like.

The majority of people I see leaving from EMIT in the US are talented technical folks that are are also at least decently skilled politically. Definitely not bottom performers. There certainly were a few bottom performers plus the infamous leakers, but they are not the majority.

The not looking crowd is a reminder of how many sheep work at this company. It's typical EM to be internally focused, while for most other companies, it's commonplace to have high performing folks for only a few years before they move on. In fact, the highest performers are the ones who are generally jumping ship to different companies on the same frequency we promote our "high fliers" internally. Only difference, externally they are getting a variety of experiences and exposure to different company cultures. Here? It's the incestuous dance. It's so true what many have said already. At EM, you get dumber as the years go on. If you aren't constantly looking to see what your worth is, well, you're probably a company sheep, good riddance when they eventually can you and you find out all those "skills" you honed have no relevance outside of EM.

Also not looking. No reason, what happens will happen. Typical Exxon mo–n assuming they know everything.

There are actually 5 buckets, you missed very good. "good" basically means below average (20-40%).

Coming from someone "good" - it's good enough to not be affected this year, but probably next year or sooner if situations don't improve.

What is considered a low performer? The ranking had 4 areas. Outstanding, Excellent, good and needs improvement. Obviously needs improvement is low, but is good considered low as well?

No I'm not looking because I'm too busy; I have a ton of work to do. Is that a good sign?

Not looking here either. Only low performers are worried about the layoff.

I'm not looking. Already know I'm safe. There is also many people I work with who are also not looking. Trust isn't the problem if you are a higher performer.
