12 or more days to go before I know if I am impacted. I would prefer to know sooner than later.
After Nov 20th, I assume your department head would know if you are being laid off. Any signs to look for that indicate you are being laid off?

The people that are safe have already been told (ie the top third or top 50%, depending on the org)
They will also be notifying people that are staying and who they will be reporting to. So just because you have a meeting scheduled with your manager does not mean you will be laid off.
I was communicating bad news in past....It is hard. But XOM employees are unique....They have soooo many unnecessary questions that it blows your mind. They would ask if they would be rehired, and how, how was the score determined, what about if A was B, etc. etc.? They would just ask something that you dont know the answer, so they win over you and show how they are right. I mean folks...we just dont know those things, even VPs dont know, this is the worst ever in O&G, we are told to be compassionate, tell what we know which is pretty much here is your package and thats it...
There may not be a lot of signs. Since supervisors are also subject to VIP, HR will most likely not distribute list early, or only to top executive level managers. I'm going to guess the list will blast out to all communicators on Dec 1. If your supervisor isn't a communicator (which means they will be part of VIP), they won't have any way of signaling early you're on the list. As with most items lately (educational refund removal, 401k match removal, VIP info), supervisors and managers learned at the same time their employees did. So no reason to think this would be any different.
I felt like a little fish in a shark’s tank. Just waiting for it to happen. It’s the worst part - is the wait.
And I agree with others’ new assignments are were not being assigned to me, I was left off of group calls, or meetings in regards to future system changes/new processes. I was asked to wrap up my project I was working on. The signs were there and it was obvious looking back on it.
I don’t think my supervisor was that polished to handle the PIP/layoff call at the time, the supervisor was very awkward on the call and was likely reading from a script, but I’m sure they have been coached and directed on the layoffs coming up in December. I expect them to be more prepared.
They won’t use zoom, as the cowards don’t want to look you in the eye and don’t want to be recorded.
They use phones - likely they will even call you to your own cellphone.
Brief call - HR will send you the information eventually and they want their laptop back.
For them we’re all just a number, regardless of what are we working on or how irreplaceable we think we are.
They care not.
Your supervisor will start ghosting you. Probably a week before you find out for sure you are gone.
Then, the morning of your notification, you will see an e-mail/invite that hits your in-box at 5 am so when you log on, it’s the first thing you see.
And then you will know...
And then you will have to wait until the meeting at 8, 9, or 10 am for the official word via the zoom meeting scheduled.
Then it’s done.. it s—s. This is what happened to me in July.
Less gas-lighting. More ghosting.
@ist+180B2Yso that's why you read the posts from a personal device.
You know you're in danger when your supv schedules a private meeting with you.
@zif. I’ve got an already scheduled 1:1 on dec 8. If that doesn’t get rescheduled for earlier I guess I’m gonna assume I’m getting fired. I would assume if my boss has good news for me he would want to tell me ASAP...
Merry Christmas everyone.
There will not be any. That was made clear in the supervisor session.
It was suggested to leverage current one on one meetings if already set up. So unless your supervisor is also going and you get an invite up one level it may be hard to tell.
Communicators won’t find out until the last day of November and will start the process on the 1st.

@ist+180B2Yso - sorry to see you go.
When you are surfing this board during working hours, you are getting laid off.
Some of your projects or duties start shifting to others.
Being given few if any new assignments.
Colleagues in group are on calls you were not on invite to.
