Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Not easy to please everybody

it is hard to please everyone, whoever it is that sits in the CEO post will always get a negative response from everyone. do you ever think that if SB was given the CEO post instead of SM, SB will not receive any negative feedback from anybody?

I don't care who the CEO or next CRO will be but, as long as the business runs and I have work, that is good for me. While here in the company, I just need to make sure that I have other sources of funds outside of regular work. And making sure that my current skill is still at par on the market.

“Not easy to please everybody”- Face it, Vantage is putting lipstick on a pig (Teradata Database). These layoffs have everything to do with ELT abusing talented employees & forcing us to work on bs projects knowing it’s nothing good or new. SM will be let go in 6-10 mos then the cycle will start all over again! Good luck to my teammates who’re left to deal with this neverending sh– show!

The parasites at the director level and above are extremely good at butt kissing. They will continue to do that vas the minions are let go over and over.

Unlike previous CEOs, SM at least acts in the interest of shareholders (and not employees) and tries to improve financials and gove TD few more years of a run. The product is as it is and it will not magically, overnight become anything different (aka now Vantage can do AI as we added Aster next to DB). Demand is weakening, thus no need to have so many folks selling it as before. Consulting with all TBA story is in some sort of coma, dropping by 20% YoY. That is the reality - data and facts. No new logos, dropping customer base - u need to act or face default. I would love the idea that we all keep our jobs as end of Oct comes and start building next gen a—kicking product that will take the market by a storm but this even to me sounds like a fairy tale (looking backwards into industry and TD development over last 5 yr)

Crazy idea: not announcing the hiring of another C-level and another EVP at likely astronomical salaries, followed by saying how strong the company is and sure it made money, but not enough money to keep shareholders happy so they have to lay people off.

If they keep cutting from the bottom to save money, why are they adding to the top and giving top positions to newcomers to lead the company through difficult times with their two weeks at Teradata?
