Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Does the ELT even know what transparency means?

in SM's nearly first address to the company he just casually threw out "oh yea and we are going to be doing layoffs."

Then it was nothing for weeks, and the next discussion was "oh we are offering early retirement", then zero freaking communication again.

They have dragged out this layoff for a freaking quarter. We as employees should have zero faith in the ELT and less than zero in the Board, all of them are just milking it until Teradata is dry. When is someone going to buy TD for parts or patents?

It’s been poorly managed, no escaping that. It highlights that people really are not a priority for SM. He signed onto the role to jettison some of you. His use of the term transparency at the outset ( easy to do) and then failure to back it up with anything substantial ( difficult ) may give some insight into what the future holds. The company and its leaders have been shown, again, to lack maturity and to do anything other than paint by numbers and to clutch at straws

I wish they gave us no more than a month’s notice and a specific date and an idea of the scope. This 3 months of not knowing is rough. Even with three months, it would be easier if we had a little more specific info in the mean time.

He could have not said anything then you would be blindsided by it? There are lots of moving parts right now with covid I am sure so there could be a reason they have waited as long as they have.

Why would anyone buy TD? It is not native cloud. SF, Synapse, BigQuery, Redshift to mention few
