Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Enbridge - Look at the big picture

I worked at Enbridge during its best phase of growth in the last two decades and oil price at its peak. We received ever increasing bonuses and ever increasing pay hikes. The work environment was excellent. However, all good things must come to an end. The oil price tanked. Pipelink failed miserably. Outsourcing, layoffs began. The best leaders left or were laid off. An incompetent and clueless team was left behind. What did I do ?. I looked at the big picture. The golden era of oil was ending. Pipelines were being cancelled. My future prospects at Enbridge was mediocre at best. I resigned, took my pension and invested it all in Tesla. It is now worth over a million.

Folks have reported to have done this with Bitcoin, those that timed it right now have 10’s of millions. Much more of a gamble than Tesla, but the return is ridiculous.

So many “smart” people crying here. Why don’t you all go work for Tesla, Google or SpaceX if you’re so talented?

Agreed / maybe: the world has changed.but to what?? In the 70s it was climate change, an ICE AGE and the OZONE (FYI Al Gore was nicknamed OZONE AL ), Oil, it was a limited resource and we were running out, Jimmy Carter (sky is falling). coc–ne, Iran-Contra, fall of the Berlin Wall,"it's the economy stupid,", Monica Lewenski, ENRON ( it's all just electrons ).Some where in all of this there were pet rocks, mood rings and a few Wars, genicide, etc.etc.

Now we have global warming, climate change and we are awash in oil and other fossil fuels, they are evil even though.they provide 80% + of our energy needs.

Renewables are:10%, with Hydro ( which may be evil ), making up 6% of the 10.

Bottom line from someone who also played the game and won ( also retired with a million + in the bank, plus other benefits ).

Best bet, live on less than you make, save what you can, part your hair correctly, vote, no bumper stickers, cheap cars, education, belief in purpose to life and a higher power, family is your best bet.

Remember in the long run we are all dead! My belief system is there is a higher existence, this life is a test, you can't take your toys with you, only your character and the relationships you have built.

I don't know how current ELT, from the Chairman on down sleep at night, but so he it,

If there is a Hell , there is a special place for all things HR.

Good for you my man. I worked there for 5 years on the oil side and in the beginning it was good. As time went on it got really bad to the point of wanting to call in sick everyday. I left and now I am the happiest ever! Abandoning the titanic was the best thing ever

Good for you. But whether oil is really on the downtrend is still debatable. So-called green energy to power our factories, homes and cars may be good for the environment but I doubt will be enough or cost-effective.
