Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

WFR me, already!

I'm ready to move on - after 20+ years at Dell/EMC I have enough savings to retire. But if you quit you get 2 weeks pay and they kiss you goodbye. Dell k–led the VSP program (Voluntary Separation Package), so there I am, working a little less every week, down to about working an hour a day on average from home, making $360K annually, and nobody cares. Fire me already and keep the people who still have some motivation.
(If this doesn't get at least -10 negative likes, I'll be bummed)

There are probably a few people who could afford to retire but don't want to pay $1000 + per month for medical insurance until Medicare kicks in. That's what happens when your medical insurance is linked to your job.

That's right! DataGen-EMC-Dell - 1974-2020

Data Gen –> EMC–>Dell could add up to 46...

To the last post, you’re saying you’ve been with Dell for 46+ years? That’s pretty impressive since Dell didn’t even start until 1984... 🙄

I was WFR'd after 46+ years and got basic 8 weeks plus 46 weeks (years of service). Not bad. the problem arises when you don't get the "old" 1 yr pay/2yrs insurance. You get 2 months of insurance and COBRA at ~1500 month through 2022. One other plus is the bonus. They made conceptions and gave partial bonus (that just pays for part of insurance). Medicare is next!!
It was a good run!

Getting yourself deliberately put on the list takes a lot of careful politics. You have to have a really good relationship with your manager, and they themselves must not be about to go on the WFR list, because that would mean they no longer have the power to determine their own department staffing.

I saw situations my last year at Dell where those who really needed the job got axed, while higher paid positions did not get eliminated despite the fact it made little business sense.

If you're making that much and close to retirement, I would think just stop working and wait for the inevitable. Maybe you'll get lucky!

Seriously - who makes $300K+ annually and even cares enough to be posting on this site? How would you even know about it. You should disclose who you are and then you will get what you wish for.

Fake post.
