Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Will more people voluntarily leave if the US eliminates 9/80?

If their goal is to get as many people as possible to leave voluntarily (so that they don't have to pay a package), why not just get rid of the 9/80?

I'm playing devil's advocate, of course. But throughout my years at Shell, I have heard people complain that Shell does not pay as well as Exxon. But they then say that the 9/80 is the only thing that keeps them at Shell.

So why wouldn't Shell get rid of the 9/80? If their goal is to shed as many people as possible the cheapest way it can, seems like something they should consider.

I have heard the opposite about pay. I had. A friend who left Exxon for Shell and Shell paid just as well.

Since we went remote, I’ve done very little work. Love WFH. I hope this wuhan virus stays around a while cause i’m starting a home business on Shell’s clock. They make it so easy

WFH will balance that out a lot! Covid ain't going anywhere for a while.

If they want to get rid of me, they will have to pay me to go away.
