Maybe the cost control is the one needed first to restore order. Then comes the visionary.

Cant see Siebel or really anyone else getting excited about the portfolio - ie Grid Software maybe can grab some headlines due to renewables, etc but the reality is it is old tech. Not sure Siebel or anyone else pays up for Predix. The other stuff from control systems era isnt worth much to a large company, maybe small PE firm would get excited...

Byrne is almost the polar opposite of what a standalone GED needs. He would be more appropriate as a cost control leader rather than a visionary leader.
In reference to merging with C3 and Tom Siebel, there is no prospect of this occurring. C3.AI is doing well, and infusing the company with weak talent and marginal technology would be a distraction of zero or beget or value. It won’t happen. Tom is smarter than that.
We can see if Siebel can catch lightning in a bottle again.
They should merge with C3.ai.
Digital can stand up on last time, everyone can give it a hug, and then it should be put to sleep.
Right, one of reasons Byrne was hired was that he has some technology vision ability and probably as an experienced senior manager is a good bet to get the structure like.

Folks. GED cannot succeed. It lacks the right technology, leadership, vision, and structure. Some of the parts may have value, but on aggregate the prospects are grim. Honeywell likes to say that they are “not GE” with their digital initiatives, yet the results and outcomes will not be dissimilar. The IP is worth far less outside of GE - greatly devaluing prior investment. Larry would be best to sell it off if there’s a rube willing to take it on, or shut it down.

The Austin group will be merged into GED.
Aviation has consolidated and moved away from Digital. Called DISE now. Where are you getting this information.
GED will be stood up as an actual business unit with Byrne as the CEO and President. A real business unit including the Aviation group.
And then pushed off the roof. :)
The outcome is predetermined. It’s simply a matter of whether it is a slow decline to irrelevance or a fire sale.
