BAR Training (What a Joke)

“We take calculated risks”
“We hold ourselves accountable for our performance”

Huh, last time I checked we are on the verge of bankruptcy thanks to our fearless leader VH taking reckless risks and then not stepping down to hold herself accountable. This company is a joke.

There has been too much reorganization for any rating to be valid this fall. In offshore, Oxy has just partially announced a partial reorg with many Oxy people being given leadership positions in a business unit some of them have no business being in. Not sure how anybody is going to have enough insight into or knowledge of their reports and HOW all the individuals work to give an informed rating. And those few remaining leaders / managers in GOM who have direct reports and know them well are probably too busy fighting for themselves to have any motivation to put themselves out there in support of their reports.

The ONLY thing important NOW is free cash flow, generated sustainably with legal means.
Nothing else matters. All these Foo Foo schemes are for companies that are not on the verge of bankruptcy.
It’s deliver or die.

Good people never treat people like sh– even to get a better rating. That is called integrity. Why don’t they screen people better when they hire? That would keep the evil people out and actually improve the bottom line. It does not take much to spot a rat during the interview either by the paper work submitted or the words emitted during the interview. I hope that during these times they are not hiring people exclusively on the basis of the video interview. That would be a mistake.

This system has been around for a while. There are going to be a lot of high performers shocked when they see their rating is not based on their actual work skills, but being a nice and gentle person. You would think by now most people would know how to interact and be good co-workers, but I guess we need to be reminded to stay inline and not disrespect anyone. I started on the rigs, and if they ever had of brought this out there the HR person would have been run off or tied up in the mud house. Working in the office with the toughest boss is a cake walk compared to the c-ap we had to take on the rig. Sure helped toughen me up from the 22 year old kid I was at the time. Looking back I would not trade that experience for any work experience I have had in the office since. No BS and you knew exactly where you stood with your co-workers. Either pull your load or get your a– kicked or fired.

I grade VH as a 6 or at best 5B. She should be on a PIP.

Hopefully all those who deserve feedback on how their performance “needs improvement” will get an appropriate review with timely follow up actions.

The biggest risk is persecuting and attacking people and affecting their lives and families because Oxy staff think they are entitled to do it. I've seen how that ends across the country and in the news.

Nero (VH) fiddles (BAR) while Rome (OXY) burns (C11)

Totally agree! It is sad and laughable at the same time.

Yes, hypocrisy from the top. That’s why there will be no credible leadership until VH leaves. Board of Directors do your job and fire her!
