Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Home Services

"""If he sells Home Services, it will be brutal."""

He can't sell Home Services. Who wants old broken down vans with broken down technicians driving them, and broken down routing software and broken down management? The only GOOD thing that someone may actually want from what remains is the huge database of customers that Sears / Transformco has in their software. So many former customers built up over the decades, and so much info about them including most every appliance they have in their homes. This is Eddie's last cash cow. He will sell it off soon enough.

The business model is total cr-p. Eddie makes money off of the "investments" he hires as "valued and skilled employees'" There are 2 types of employees that work for Sears Home Services or Transformco, a Sleeper or a Keeper. Sleepers are mostly forced through frustration, lack of hours, no communication or just plain sitting at home getting paid to quit. You manage yourself, yet when I needed something it was always last priority. The iphones provided maliciously jam LTE and bluetooth signals (happened more than a few times so it resided in a rubbermaid at night). They watch and listen when not supposed to. Plus its all AI with minimal human interaction or oversight. Customers screamed at me like I mu---red their appliances. For me, being certified, was made many promises, to no avail. Spent 2 months waiting, training in what I am already certified in and took them 2 1/2 months to finally get a POS truck rusted to cr-p from Northern states. Still no legal tag or registration but they have spent in upwards of 50k on me. Very conkfusing, because I was willing and able to work out of my own truck, but denied. Totals of 13k in payroll and remaining amount estimated in supplies, materials, tools, gas and truck expenses. All brand new. So the ones that are "keepers" are the small sums of income not so legitimately earned. (Sent me to a neighbors house knowing we could not fix the appliance beforehand and customer even requested afternoon time slot. It was my first call at 8 AM. Then the software wont let you void the trip charge of $120.00 so I (The Certified Technician) am the face of a scammer in small town America. No thanks. Talked to a lawyer and explained everything from day 1. I am a Tax write off, the "Sleeper." Now experiencing harassment and micromanagement as well as promises of reasonable requests for time off are submitted. Every step along the way, there have been redundancies and errors. Not to mention, everyone works from home, no office. Lawyer says I can quit, after I give notice and then file suit for harassment and discriminatory actions. Here we go. SigmaTron.

Sears Home Services is a major player with a highly regarded brand. When people need repairs or installation, SHS is almost always at or near the top of their list. It’s iconic and should fetch a premium price.

"The only GOOD thing that someone may actually want from what remains is the huge database of customers that Sears / Transformco has in their software." Too much time and just plain wrong information. Who can forget the ill will from Sears? Many Cheaper ways to contact customers. Sears name is just not worth much ask anyone under seventy years old. No argument Sears rules the over Eighty crowd.

Eddie's been trying to sell Home Services off for many years, but nobody's ever made a serious offer. Its considered the crown jewels of the business and they want an outragious sum of money for.

The “huge database” is outdated and has little value if any.
The Kenmore IW “business” is more of a liability than an asset.

Any body that has been in the service business knows that from an in warranty service perspective the appliance manufacture service division will simply hand all in warranty service over to the thousands of third party appliance service shops around the nation that are just waiting to take it on. A&E is just a name now. When Montgomery wards went bankrupt in 2000. Sears got it for nothing as in paid nothing for it.
